Our continuous work to activate law number (8) of (2001) regulating foreign direct investment in the state of Kuwait and its executive regulations and our continuous efforts to refine its implementation when necessary, amend it when we must is a measure of our devotion to improve FDI's environment in the state of Kuwait. That devotion stems from our sincere view that the two pillars of modern economy are freedom of commerce and a full integration of our economy with that of the global; those pillars of modernity are also what drive us to work strenuously to help privatize our government owned institutions of productions and services. Moreover, we believe that reducing our dependency on oil is the key to success in the future. Consequently, increasing FDI inflows to Kuwait by creating a welcoming and competitive investment environment has been and continues to be our central objective. True to our convictions, the state of Kuwait has created incentives to foreign investors that we believe should help achieve our goal of transforming Kuwait into a financial and a commercial hub. Those incentives which were recently implemented include reducing our tax rate from 55% to 15%, tax breaks up to ten years, zero custom charges for products relating to the FDI project and freedom of employing whatever amount of labor needed for the project be it Kuwaitis or foreign nationals. Still more, Kuwait Foreign Investment Bureau is currently working with the designated authority in the state of Kuwait to legislate more laws that would provide further incentives to foreign investors. Currently Kuwait Foreign Investment Bureau (KFIB) is cooperating and coordinating with various governmental institutions in the state of Kuwait to offer the best services and whatever facilities required by foreign direct investors. Through such efforts we hope to attract distinguished foreign investors and overcome all obstacles that hinders their business activities in Kuwait. We also hope to create attractive job opportunities for Kuwaiti national labors, insure a complete diversification of our economic structures, better manage our scarce economic resources and institute both modern technologies and expertise locally.
