Ahli United Bank Kuwait formerly The Bank of Kuwait and Middle East was not satisfied of just being the first block in the structure of Kuwait's banking sector and the cornerstone of the country's economic heritage, but also continued to perform a vital role for more than sixty years in Kuwait’s economic and social development by financing infrastructure, industrial and commercial projects, hence transforming into a shining star in the country's banking hemisphere. The beginning of 1941 saw the inauguration of the first banking and financial institution in Kuwait, when late Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sanctioned an agreement that opened the branch of a British bank in the country -- the Iranian Imperial Bank (at that time).
