Kuwait Banking Association established on May 16, 2001 based on the Ministerial Decree No. 82 of 2001 to replace the Commission on Kuwaiti banks established in December 12, 1981 under an agreement signed between the heads of the boards of local banks with the aim of closer cooperation and coordination between member banks, and to enable them to keep abreast of developments in systems banking and upgrading of its employees. Union includes in its membership currently twenty-one banks.
